Rome and Sorrento area
I have had a love affair with Rome since my first visit in 2004. I have visited Rome four times now, and each time I find more to love! I suggest 4-5 nights in Rome and 4-5 nights in Sorrento. While in Sorrento take day trips to the Vesuvius, Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast. We took our adult kids with us on this trip. We made such great family memories.
What I can do for you:
- Find hotels in Rome in safe neighborhoods, where you can walk to almost all the major sights. These hotels will also have access to the Metro, to whisk you to Vatican City.
- Help you buy advance tickets to museums from a reputable websites.
- Advise you about car rentals, and how to be safe in rental cars.
- Help you plan day trips to Vesuvius, Pompeii, and the Amalfi Coast
- Advise you about fun (and drawbacks) of traveling during the holidays.
BUDGET
- airfare is about $1000 from DFW into Rome
- Well located simple hotels run about $120-$150 a night, usually including breakfast.
- Meals eaten in restaurants: breakfast for 2 people: $10 breakfast, $20 or less lunch and $30 or less dinner (not including wine and you will want the wine)
- Car rental for driving to Sorrento (no car in ROME!! ever) about $40 a day plus gas.
- entrance fees to places- $15-30 per entrance
