Florence / Tuscany / Cinque Terre and surrounding areas

Florence / Tuscany / Cinque Terre and surrounding areas

  • I have been to Florence three times, and the Tuscany and Cinque Terre areas twice. I have done these trips with my husband and as a girls' trip. If you choose to explore these areas of Italy, you will not be disappointed.  The wine, the museums, the scenery are worth the long journey over the Atlantic Ocean.

Florence is an amazing city.  There are hundreds of choices to fill your day. You can climb to the top of both The Duomo and Giotto's Tower; the view from the top is unbelievable. "David" is a must see. A hike up the big hill to the Pitti Palace and its gardens enable you to eat more food that evening. Cross the Ponte Vecchio to take great sunset photos. See the Medici Chapel, the Uffizi Gallery or just wander around and go shopping...Florence is a HUGE shopping town.

In Tuscany you can explore and go wine tasting in Montepulciano, see the silk towers of San Gimignano and hold up the Tower of Pisa.

Go shopping in Pienza, see the zebra striped church in Siena, and admire the stunning views and back streets of Cortona.

Cross the bridge to Civita, eat in a back street of Orvieto, go down 500 steps of a famous well, and meditate in the garden of a St Francis monastery.   Tuscany has so much to love.

The Cinque Terre and the town of Rapallo are my picks for a Ligurian Sea holiday.
