Kauai

Kauai

I went to Kauai with my family during the month of January!  WHALES, WHALES everywhere. The surf is a bit rough in January but the crowds are a bit smaller. We did this trip in combination with The Big Island.  Kauai is great for families and couples.

  • What I can do for you:

  • Help you find a great condo,  or hotel in your budget.
  • Explain the food prices-no surprises
  • Provide locations of great hikes.
  • Pick excursions tailored to your likes
  • Give you information about rental cars
  • Budget

  • Airfares will run $850to $1100  from DFW depending on number of stops.
  • Condos- 1 bedroom-ocean view- $225 a night-- no ocean view $100+ a night
  • Hotels- ocean front $250+ a night--- off the ocean $120+
  • Food- expensive- Condo best deal so you can make at least 2 meals a day- plus who wouldn't like grilling with an ocean view! If you eat out -typical- breakfast $12, Lunch $17, dinner $25+ Grocery are expensive too- but I have suggestions to help you save money!
  • Excursions are pricey- $80- $150 pp (kayaking, tubing, zodiac boat rides, scuba/diving)

Fantasy Island water falls (with a secret hike nearby), scenery near they condo we rented, another secret hike - this is the entrance to a scientific discovery oasis

Lighthouse visit, and wild  beaches and a fun swimming beach  on the north side of the island.

The Grand Canyon of Kauai includes a stellar hike to the ocean overlook.

Another great (uphill) hike to a stunning overlook.  The kids went to the top of the scary ridge.
