Portugal

Portugal

Portugal is a wonderful country that is noted for its Duoro wine, Port wine and beautiful beaches. It has a vibe different than Spain because its entire west coast is water. Driving from Faro to Porto, on really great highways, will give you a taste of the culture of this welcoming country.

  • What I can do for you:

  • Explain the toll road rules, so you don't end up with a fine
  • Give tips on places to stay so you make the most of each town
  • Let you know which places need advance tickets, so you don't wait in line
  • Picking smaller towns over larger cities to get a real feel for the country.
  •
  • Cost:

  • Round trip airfare will run about $1100 rt from DFW
  • Hotels are about $100 a night off season- $150 on season
  • Food is about the same as we pay in TX

Here are some of my favorite Portuguese places ... Lagos and Sagres (google Henry the Navigator) are located in the far southwest.

Heading North you have your choice of the big city of Lisbon (1st picture) or smaller Sintra- which I preferred because of the fort, whimsical castle and the small town with fun dining options.

Heading further north is the city of Porto. There is so much wine (Port and Duoro) and so many things to do-like visiting this extraordinary bookstore. I really liked staying on the river waterfront. Next time I will take a wine cruise up the river to see all the vineyards!

If you like beaches, wine, castles, forts , cities and small towns - then Portugal needs to be on your radar for your next vacation. Contact me at 1960travelgirl@gmail.com
